Dreaming of Pieces is a unique block at your own pace English Paper Piecing (EPP) experience designed to spark your creativity and let you become the ultimate designer of your own quilt.

We all know the magic of English Paper Piecing (Slow Stitching). There is nothing quite like the slow rhythmic comfort of thread basting a beautiful shape and watching your design come together in your own hands. When I began my journey the thought of committing to a massive quilt pattern felt very overwhelming.  That’s why I created Dreaming of Pieces.

This isn’t a quilt pattern, its and invitation to play, design and create on your own terms. You have the tools and freedom to build a quilt that reflects your creative voice.

There are 12 blocks in this series, and all are designed to work together. Each Block design will make a 6 inch Hexagon. No template is repeated. If a shape you used in Block 1 pops up again in Block 4, you won't be asked to buy it twice.

By the time you finish your quilt, you will have a gorgeous self designed heirloom, and you will own a comprehensive high quality supply of EPP templates to use on your own custom designs for years to come.

Great for when working on your EPP projects. If you have a shape that you don’t have a template for or the shape is only used a couple of times in your project, this ruler will solve your problem.  Trace around your EPP paper piece then use your ruler to add your seam allowance.  Once side measurement is for ? inch seam and the other is for 3/8 inch seam.

The title of this cushion says it all !  Being 20 inches wide with a 4 inch gusset makes it great for relaxing on the couch yet still looks elegant.  Originally designed for release at the Liberty Showcase in Brisbane I chose to use a selection of beautiful Liberty fabrics for the EPP pieces.  The backing fabric is linen which along with the super comfortable cushion fill of feather/fibre adds to the stability of the cushion.

Note from Jessica – When I first started EPP, I loved doing lots of different shapes and fabrics and colours in my quilts.  While I cherish those super scrappy quilts, I found myself drawn more and more to traditional quilt designs that were more restrained in their colour choice and shapes, creating an overall striking quilt design.  Those quilts inspired this design.

I wanted something where each of the blocks flowed into the next, creating a unique overall look.  This quilt uses oversized 4 inch pieces to create a cleaner, bolder look.  It was designed to use analogous colours, allowing the eye to flow from one block to the next.  I have included a couple of different colour palette options to help you get inspired when choosing your colours !

You will certainly be catching Spring Fever with Jessica Bree’s latest design. Built piece by piece using English Paper Piecing, this quilt is so joyful. I love how the central hexagon flower creates the flower focal point. It’s impossible not to feel happy looking at this quilt.

Note from Jessica – This pattern was designed for my Aunt who is undergoing chemotherapy.  I wanted something bold, happy and most importantly, relatively fast to hand sew.  I chose to work with 4 Inch sided pieces.  While this was mostly for speed I was so thrilled with how it came out.  Using oversized pieces means you can use larger scale prints that often don’t work for traditional EPP.
